Ruben, a native Belize City boy and Elvie a beautiful island girl from Ambergris Caye met for the first time in Belize City twenty one years ago.  They fell in love and moved to Ambergris Caye to start their new journey together.

The couple worked at some of the finest resorts on the island but had always dreamt of one day starting their own business.

They had built their home in the Escalante area and saw the need for a restaurant in this quickly expanding neighborhood.
That dream came to fruition on May 16th, 2008 when, along with their teenage daughters, the Muñoz family converted their back yard into what is now The Hidden Treasure Restaurant.
Despite its quaint location, The Hidden Treasure Restaurant quickly became a popular destination restaurant to both locals and island visitors alike.  After only one year, The Hidden Treasure Restaurant was awarded the first ever “Restaurant of the Year Award” by the Belize Tourism Board.

More recently, the restaurant has entered into the Trip Advisor’s Hall of Fame.  This unique accolade is granted only to those businesses that have won the Certificate of Excellence for five years in a row.

The Hidden Treasure Restaurant continues to provide exceptional food and service to the visitors and residents of Ambergris Caye.
